Environmental Consciousness

DataSource Mobility is concerned about the impact that we all have on the environment and we feel it is our obligation and privilege to be stewards for the world we live in. We use this statement as a set of guiding principles for our day to day and strategic decision making process. If you need further information, please contact us directly at 931-266-4242

We strictly adhere to environmentally friendly practices to ensure we leave a small carbon footprint.
We reduce, reuse and recycle in all areas of our business and endeavor to make the “right choice” each and every time.

It all starts with our business model—which is incredibly lean and efficient. For example, the majority of our team is home office based and commutes no further than the kitchen to the office. This strategy eliminates travel time to an office and decreases CO2 emissions. Our sales team is set up by regions to enable travel by car to be an efficient means of transportation. Additionally, our primary mode of meeting with customers is by teleconference or online session. We are happy to fly or drive to meet with you as needed, but the point is that we operate as streamlined as possible.

These and other efficiencies that we gain enable us to reduce our carbon footprint and at the same time lower our cost basis. This in turn means a lower price to our customer and it means that our manufacturer partners can sell more of their product. This philosophy creates a win for all stakeholders: the customer, the manufacturer, DataSource and the environment. We believe that “green thinking” needs to be grounded in the notion that, if done properly, what is best for the environment is ultimately what’s best for all involved.

As we strive to make a conscious effort to be environmentally friendly, we also work to develop partnerships with companies who have the same ideals. Below you will find a list of our partners, along with their environmental position.  We evaluate partners on four basic criteria: quality, value, service, and environmental awareness. If you really think about it, all of these criteria trend back to a guiding philosophy for offering solutions to our customers: total cost of ownership. We believe that by offering the best solution we reduce the overall cost for our customer and at the same time we can create a better solution for the environment as well.

Partner Perspectives

We evaluate each manufacturer and partner we deal with on five criteria: quality, value, customer service, ethics and environmental impact. Simply put, if there is a potential partner that is lacking in one of these areas, we won't deal with them.  It's a simple but effective quality control measure we put in place to make sure that we are "doing the right thing" for our customers and for future generations.

Here's a sampling of how some of our major partners position themselves as it pertains to the environment.

Ergotron’s mission is to improve the wellness of computer users across the globe. This concern for health extends to creating environmentally responsible products that comply with (and in many cases exceed) international environmental regulations related to design, manufacture and packaging. Regulations include restricted materials, battery and electronic equipment compliance, sustainable building eligibility, packaging waste reduction, and manufacturing and waste management. Through durable and adaptable human-centered engineering, Ergotron products are built for long-term use, with open architecture designed to migrate with future computer hardware advancements.

Standard keyboards, mice, and other computer peripherals are inherently environmentally unfriendly. They can contain lead, mercury and other hazardous materials which are considered toxic to humans. At end-of-life these computer peripherals typically find their way into landfills where these toxic and dangerous substances may leach into the groundwater and eventually enter the food chain.

Man & Machine, Inc., the leading manufacturer of hygienic, waterproof keyboards & mice is committed to minimizing the impact these products have on humans and the environment by providing long lifecycle peripherals which are intrinsically more eco-friendly due to their durability and materials. Standard keyboards and mice have to be disposed of when exposed to infection diseases such as H1N1, MRSA and Norovirus.

Man & Machine’s Eco-friendly pledge:
·         All Man & Machine products may be returned to the company at end-of-life for redeployment or environmentally friendly disposal.
·         We commit to never utilizing anti-microbial additives in any of our products. Man & Machine is the only major company in the industry not utilizing these potentially environmentally dangerous additives.
·         We adhere to RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances Directive) standards that restrict the use of certain environmental hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment.
·         Minimal paper usage in-house.
·         We recycle packing materials.
·         We recycle consumer plastics and paper products in our headquarter office.
